OUR STORY

Since its establishment in 1986, Parramatta Community College has been at the heart of community education in the region. As a not-for-profit organisation driven by a social purpose, we aim to make a lasting impact by offering learning opportunities to individuals from all walks of life. We are a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 90276) and a proud member of Community Colleges Australia, committed to upholding the highest standards in adult education. Parramatta Community College continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of our learners. We take pride in being a place where lifelong learning is celebrated and where individuals can come together to grow, connect, and succeed.

OUR MISSION

We educate for life. This means we provide adult education opportunities that includes developing personal interests, through to upskilling or reskilling for work and career. The College also provides part or fully funded training for community members that may be facing barriers to training.

George Bousamra

George Bousamra

President

With over ten years of experience in the education sector, George is able to form strategic partnerships to benefit the college and the community. He believes creating an exceptional student experience is imperative to inducing a high-performance learning environment. Commercially driven and innovative, as an experienced Director, Board Member, trusted Adviser and Public Speaker, George’s proven government and corporate expertise to engage, influence and manage stakeholders, build high-value collaborative partnerships and form international alliances. With a diverse professional network, a passion for improving public policy and experience in implementing innovative ICT solutions, George helps people process and accept changes in their environment by developing succinct messages, reaching out to key stakeholders, creating risk management plans and monitoring results.

LUKE MAGEE

Luke Magee

Director

Luke Magee has worked internationally as an IT consultant throughout Australia the UK and Switzerland. He has dealt with the complex requirements of SMEs, multinational corporations, and Government department’s delivering innovative and industry best practice solutions. Luke’s formal qualifications include BEc, MBA, GAICD. Luke has been a director of the Parramatta College since 2019.

ALISON PARKINSON

Alison Parkinson

Director

Alison has experience in a range of public sector and community service portfolios, including ageing, disability and carers. She began her career in employment services and currently works in gambling harm prevention and minimisation. She has experience in grants administration, the funding and management of community services and in overseeing education and awareness initiatives.

Alison holds a Bachelor of Arts (Communications) and International Studies and an Executive Masters in Public Administration. She is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

ALISON CUI

Alison Cui

Director

Alison is an experienced legal practitioner with more than a decade of expertise across private practice and in-house counsel roles. She is the principal lawyer of Bud Legal and advises small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and not-for-profit organisations (NFPs), delivering pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice that helps organisations navigate complexity with confidence. Passionate about education and lifelong learning, Alison is inspired by her parents, who reinvented their working lives through non-tertiary education. Their journey shaped her belief that education creates opportunity, builds resilience and empowers people to achieve meaningful personal and professional change.

SIMON BARRIE

Simon Barrie

Director

Emeritus Professor Barrie is an experienced senior education leader with a reputation for successfully leading innovation and change. He is an award-winning academic with an international reputation for his leadership and research on the transformative potential of higher education. His work links the learning demands of the new knowledge economy, and the imperatives of sustainability and resilience, with educational innovation in new learning ecosystems.

Since retiring as Deputy Vice Chancellor at Western Sydney University in 2024, he has held invited senior appointments at various Australian universities and colleges. He currently Chairs the United Nations Association of Australia (NSW) Advisory Board, is a Director on the Board of the Australian College of Physical Education, and is an Australian representative on the Advisory Board of the not-for-profit educational group, Common Purpose (UK).

MONIQUE KNIGHT

Monique Knight

Parramatta Community College CEO

Monique Knight is the CEO of Parramatta Community College, bringing extensive experience across both the non-profit and private sectors. She is the founder and former Director of The Hair and Beauty Academy in Penrith, where she successfully led the organisation for 13 years. She holds VET qualifications in Business Management, Retail, Beauty, and Training and Assessment, supported by a strong background in compliance. Monique is deeply committed to creating equitable access to education and empowering communities through meaningful learning opportunities.
