COURSE DESCRIPTION
Gain essential life-saving skills with this nationally recognised First Aid (Including CPR) course. Learn how to respond confidently in emergency situations at work, home, or in the community.
This course covers CPR, basic emergency life support, and first aid, in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines, including the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
On successful completion, students will receive a Statement of Attainment for the listed units.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Students will learn how to:
- Perform CPR and use an AED
- Respond to emergency situations
- Provide basic emergency life support
- Apply first aid procedures and communicate incident details
UNITS OF COMPETENCY
This course includes the following units of competency:
- HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- HLTAID010 – Provide basic emergency life support
- HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
DELIVERY AND ASSESSMENT
Theory is completed online via Moodle prior to the class. Practical training is delivered face-to-face at Western Sydney Skills Hub, North Parramatta.
Assessments include knowledge questions, practical demonstrations, and observations.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
There are no formal prerequisites. However, students should have basic language, literacy, numeracy, and computer skills to complete online theory.
Participants must be physically able to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor.
GOVERNMENT SUBSIDY
A NSW Government subsidy may be available for eligible students under the Smart and Skilled program.
