COURSE DESCRIPTION

Take your make-up skills to the next level and learn how to create professional make-up looks specifically designed for photography.

This accredited course explores the relationship between make-up, lighting and photography, giving you the practical skills and knowledge to create looks that photograph beautifully across a range of settings, including weddings, fashion, business, runway and film.

You will learn how different lighting conditions affect the appearance of make-up, skin texture, colour and definition, and how to adapt your techniques to achieve the desired result.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

Throughout the course, you will learn:

  • Fundamental photography concepts for make-up artists
  • Different types of photography lighting
  • How to modify lighting to complement make-up
  • How make-up and photography lighting work together
  • How lighting affects the appearance and texture of skin
  • Highlighting and contouring techniques using light
  • How to use reflectors and gels
  • Basic camera settings and lighting setups
  • Techniques for creating beautiful beauty and make-up photographs
  • Essential products, equipment and tools for photography make-up

The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian Standards and relevant industry codes of practice. No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

DELIVERY AND ASSESSMENT

This is a 4-day face-to-face course delivered at PCC Beauty Academy:

You will participate in practical training at the academy and will also need to allow time outside class to practise on clients, review learning materials and complete their learner workbook.

You will complete theory assessments at home and practical assessments at the academy.

Practical assessment requires you to demonstrate their your on different clients over time. You should allow sufficient time outside scheduled classes to complete the required practice and assessment activities.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Do I Need a Model? Yes, you will need to provide a model for the full-day practical assessment.

OUTCOME

On successful completion of the required assessments, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for SHBBMUP010 – Design and Apply Make-Up for Photography.
